As we are just hours away from Election Day, on the latest episode of Last Week Tonight, John Oliver has taken the opportunity to express his regret for urging Donald Trump to run for presidency just a few years ago.

Before playing his Daily Show clip from 2013, when he suggested Trump run for president, Oliver admitted, “It is frankly hard to believe that there was a time when people thought a Trump candidacy would be funny.”

“I will personally write you a campaign check now, on behalf of your country, which does not want you to be president, but badly wants you to run,” Oliver said back in 2013.

Now, however, the English comedian of course regrets the day he ever uttered such nonsense. Oh, and he also apologizes for predicting the Chicago Cubs would never win a World Series. Congrats, Cubbies.
