20th Century Fox has revealed the first full trailer for War of the Planet of the Apes, setting up the biggest, baddest, and bloodiest confrontation between humans and apes in the series yet.

The new clip, which follows a brooding teaser unveiled at this year's Comic-Con (see below), kicks off with some mean-looking apes on horseback as Caesar (Andy Serkis) says that he did not start the war, and instead had offered peace. There's then a load of gunfights, grapples and other excitement-building scenes before we get a first glimpse at Woody Harrelson's Colonel.

Reeve has previously said that War of the Planet of the Apes, the third rebooted film in the franchise, takes the series to a “mythical,” darker and more action-packed level than earlier movies. It stars Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Terry Notary and Karin Konoval.

The film opens nationwide on July 14, 2017. Watch the new trailer above until then.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence is in trouble for scratching her butt.
