[UPDATE #1] January 5, 2017 5:35 a..m. EST We’ve received confirmation from a reliable anonymous source that this collaboration is indeed happening and most likely will premiere as part of Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection.
Official confirmation of the long-awaited and much-rumored collaboration between streetwear giant Supreme and Parisian high fashion label Louis Vuitton may be just around the corner, as Kim Jones posted (then deleted) a mash-up sticker on his Instagram account.
The Louis Vuitton Artistic Director posted the image late yesterday, offering no caption for us to pour over for clues or hints as to if or when the collection might drop. Although he later deleted the post, many users, of course, screenshotted it just in case.
The collaboration would mark a complete turnaround for the two brands following a legal dispute in 2000 after Supreme released an unauthorized skate deck incorporating its logo into Louis Vuitton’s iconic monogram. Supreme recalled all items, but the feud was so bad the French label even demanded that all of the decks be incinerated, according to Complex.
That now seems to have changed and it could all be down to Jones, who joined Louis Vuitton in 2011. Jones is a huge fan of Supreme and has long-wished to collaborate with the label. He was even spotted at the opening of Supreme’s first-ever Paris store last summer. Interestingly, Levi’s also filed a legal dispute with Supreme for using its iconic red tab — and we all now know what happened next.
Since Jones’s post, a number of images have been uploaded to Instagram which appear show some of the pieces from the collection. Check out some of the alleged leaks below.
