Lexus’s name is most commonly associated with luxury vehicles, such as its LC 500 coupe, but now it appears as though the premium Japanese car label is looking to expand its horizons into yacht-making. Dubbed the Lexus Sport Yacht, the idea for the luxury yacht first came to mind when Toyota Motor Corperation president Akio Toyoda was trying out one of Toyota’s Ponam premium yachts.
The concept offers likely one of the most futuristic vehicles we’ve seen yet, featuring homely seating for eight, touchscreen control panels, and even going as far as to including an integrated audio-video entertainment system complete with premium acoustic drivers.
“This concept for a Lexus Sport Yacht allowed us to explore how Lexus design language could be applied to a maritime lifestyle,” said Yoshihiro Sawa, executive vice president of Lexus International.
The Sport Yacht concept is still a bespoke one-of-one, and won’t be released to the public anytime soon but the concept is likely a good indicator of things to come in the future in the way of seafaring vehicle innovation.
