Azizi Gibson's lyrics may be tongue-in-cheek, but he clearly ain't playing around when it comes to making stone-wall bangers if new track "Nintendo King" is anything to go by.
Building on his idiosyncratic style of self-conscious spitting on zoned-out beats, Zizi goes in on the twinkling instrumental - with bars laced with video game references galore - before switching it up into some more low-slung, sultry business towards the end of the track. One of the U.S. rap game’s best up-and-comers, Zizi was formerly on Flying Lotus’s pioneering Brainfeeder imprint, but has now launched his own label, preHISTORIC, for his upcoming album Memoirs of the Reaper which drops in June.
