Tune in and turn up

Azizi Gibson’s lyrics may be tongue-in-cheek, but he clearly ain’t playing around when it comes to making stone-wall bangers if new track “Nintendo King” is anything to go by.

Building on his idiosyncratic style of self-conscious spitting on zoned-out beats, Zizi goes in on the twinkling instrumental – with bars laced with video game references galore – before switching it up into some more low-slung, sultry business towards the end of the track. One of the U.S. rap game’s best up-and-comers, Zizi was formerly on Flying Lotus’s pioneering Brainfeeder imprint, but has now launched his own label, preHISTORIC, for his upcoming album Memoirs of the Reaper which drops in June.

Born in Frankfurt, Germany, raised in Bangkok, Thailand and currently based in LA, Azizi Gibson has acquired a well-traveled sound. The adventures will continue for Zizi, who will be joining acclaimed R&B duo THEY. on an extensive European tour in May. Listen to the slick new track below.

Today, THEY. dropped some Inception-level trippy new visuals for new track “What You Want.” – check them out here.
