If you’re partial to a spot of #fitspo among your cityscapes, street style and towering burgers on the ‘gram, then you might’ve seen there’s a new trend burning on the feeds: naked yoga pictures.

The trend involves (mostly) women uploading pictures of themselves doing yoga, with all the usual Instagram aesthetic touchstones (green plants, scattered light and shadows, perfect framing), only now they’re butt naked.

The trend can be sourced directly to popular user Nude Yoga Girl (@nude_yogagirl), who has amassed 668,000 followers since joining the platform in November 2015 by posting naked yoga pictures. “With my account I want to inspire people to realize that everybody is very beautiful and capable of [doing] amazing things with their bodies.” she told The Cut in an email interview back in 2015. “I want to inspire people to try yoga, and maybe they can also find body acceptance from there.”

After growing her own account and seeing engagement rise rapidly, the 27-year-old model and photographer recently started the hashtag #NYGYoga, which encourages other women to post their own naked yoga pics in the name of body positivity. Hundreds of users took her up, which may explain why you’ve been seeing these kind of images in your feed of late:
