Balenciaga's FW18 presentation at Paris Fashion Week was unsurprisingly full of take-it or leave-it style proclamations, a surprise collaboration in support of the World Food Programme, and even a hotline number. In addition to coveted garms, Balenciaga fans have come to expect a fresh batch of statement sneakers each season since Demna Gvasalia's debut, and Fall/Winter 2018 certainly did not disappoint.
A mysterious new Balenciaga sneaker surfaced online back in January, a followup to the now iconic Triple S silhouette, and a version of the sneaker appears to have made its official debut on the FW18 runway.
As staff writer Fabian Gorsler previously mentioned, the shoe, which surfaced on notorious leaker accounts such as Yeezy Mafia, looks to be more of a technical, chunky running silhouette that reminds slightly of old school Mizuno sneakers, with some early 2000s skate footwear influences mixed in.
Featuring what looks to be a cage construction around the heel and sides of the shoe which is also integrated with the lacing system, there is, much like on the Triple S, a lot going on over the upper. The midsole is a predictably chunky affair, with pops of color and Balenciaga branding on the outsole. Check out the first runway appearance of the new sneakers below and in the gallery above.
