Hairy suede? Japanese mega-retailer atmos and streetwear label BlackEyePatch have gone one better. The duo is releasing a Clarks Wallabee that replaces the shoe’s typical suede with, well, actual hair.

Long strands of shiny black pony hair cover the upper of this classic semi-formal shoe, reinventing its modest upper with a lustrous sheen and a rich bristly texture. The addition of glossy black trims and a gold BlackEyePatch badge only accentuates the hairiness of it all.

But the Japanese duo's comprehensive makeover extends beyond the shoe’s bewhiskered upper. Underfoot, you find an extra-grippy Vibram sole unit, typically only found on the odd limited-edition outdoorsy Wallabee boot. It means that while the top half of this shoe is fun, the bottom is surprisingly functional.

Releasing on December 24 via a lottery that’s already open on atmos’ website, these tactile Wallabee’s complete a history-defining year for Clarks.

This is Clarks’ 200th year in business, and it’s been celebrating through experimentation.

2025 has seen Wallabees transformed like never-before, crossbred with 3D-printed adidas soles to produce a bizarre sporty hybrid and made to be customizable in over two billion different ways by French design studio Adaptism. Beyond the Wallabee, Clarks’ most famous model, the past 12 months have also included Liam Gallagher reviving an obscure corduroy Clarks rain boot and Chinese bagmaker Topologie covering boots in a complex web of climbing ropes.

Taking this year’s other collaborations into consideration, pony-hair Clarks almost seem unadventurous. However, compared to the rest of the English shoemaker’s 200-year-long archive, they’re a hairy (and handsome) oddity.

This is the year that Clarks’ shoes reach their wildest form. And their hairiest.
