If there's one thing you can almost always count on from Converse Japan, besides high-end Chuck Taylors, it's thick-soled sneakers. The Japanese Imprint is particularly good at making the chunkiest ballet sneakers, with some even possessing secret survival skills.

The All-Star City Hike Sneaker Sandal may not be officially labeled a ballet sneaker, but it has the look down pat. Really, it's the Mary Jane-style straps and pretty shiny uppers that push the model into balletcore territory.

And its extra-thick and cushy soles bring back memories of the All Star Trek Wave BL OX, another cutesy Converse ballet model which debuted in 2025. It ultimately took the ballet sneaker craze to new, chunky heights.

But Converse's All-Star City Hike Sneaker Sandal is a little different. Believe it or not, it has outdoor roots. It draws inspiration from the City Hike sneaker, essentially a Chuck Taylor hiking boot with a similar beefy sole.

The latest is simply the original City Hike sneaker gone ballet-coded summer sandal.

Speaking of which, the All-Star City Hike Sneaker Sandal is scheduled to drop on Converse Japan's website on April 3 for around $70. It comes in two classic colorways: grey and black.
