When the ASICS GEL-QUANTUM 360 dropped over a decade ago, it was unlike any other ASICS shoe. The high-tech running sneaker is still in a lane of its own. It featured the first sneaker sole injected with 360 degrees of ASICS’ energy-returning GEL technology and a two-layer construction that made it look really wild, a feature C.P. Company chose to accentuate.

The Italian fashion label has a particular fascination with ASICS’ GEL-QUANTUM 360, previously producing a very yellow version for its debut ASICS collaboration and now following up with its take on the 2015 OG.

It makes sense considering C.P. Company’s obsession over high-tech fabrics, as the GEL-QUANTUM 360’s range includes some of ASICS’ most advanced runners.

C.P. Company leaves all the performance-enhancing tech to ASICS in its second collection, instead remixing the shoes with the industrial colors of its “urban sportswear” Metropolis line.

The GEL-QUANTUM 360’s outer layer, a stretchy knit punctuated with various holes and slits, comes in slate blue, silver, and black (or “Black Beauty” to use C.P. Company’s official wording). Behind this perforated outer sock adorned with C.P.’s logo on the toe, the shoe’s base layer pokes through, decorated with ASICS’ signature tiger stripes along the side.

It’s almost like a different, more conventional sneaker upper is hiding behind the unconventional hole-filled outer layer. And even eleven years after the shoe debuted, it looks as techy as ever.

This isn’t normally the case with C.P. Company’s occasional sneaker collections. While state-of-the-art doodads define the brand’s clothes, its hiking boots are as old-school as they come and its adidas sneakers are equally retro.

The C.P. Company x ASICS GEL-QUANTUM 360, releasing on March 20, is a rare case where a collaborative C.P. sneaker is as innovative as its clothing.
