Double Tap to Zoom

Highsnobiety recently gave you the very first look at DC Shoes’ next collaboration with luxury designer Jon Buscemi and his eponymous footwear label, BUSCEMI, and now we present the second installment of a two-part video series telling the story of how the partnership came to be.

For the uninitiated, Buscemi’s Lynx OG collaboration with DC has been a long time coming given his history with the brand. When he first started working at DC in the ‘90s, his propensity for the finer things in life was rivaled only by the logistical limitations he faced at the time. “At DC I’ve always been trying to tell this luxury story, but it just didn’t have access to the actual place that you needed to make it,” Buscemi explained. “When Sung [Choi] first designed the shoe it was flawless. Then to be able to make it in Italy out of the best materials, it’s just special.”

The BUSCEMI x Lynx OG is the ultimate embodiment of skate and opulence — in addition to being made in Civitanova, Italy, each shoe features a signature 18K gold lace lock and full-grain, hand-burnished Italian leather. And while these are definitely skateable, Buscemi suggests leaving that to the professionals if he had his way. “If you’re John Shanahan, then I would skate in them,” Buscemi jokes.
