Editor's Notes: Reimaging a heritage brand is no easy task. People around the world are familiar with and trust a brand or product because it's retained the qualities that have best served them and continued to perform to a high standard. Dr. Martens, with its 61-year history, is famed for these qualities, but its constant evolution has ensured its relevance for generations.

Working with contemporary brands to recontextualize its products has shown the strength of Dr. Martens DNA and ensured its continued relevance with younger audiences. Samuel Ross's A-COLD-WALL* is the perfect example, with its modern, brutalist takes on the classic 1460 leather ankle boot and 1461 derby.

This thinking is also applied to new silhouettes within the brand's arsenal, namely the Tarik boot. The Tarik serves as a modern reworking of the original DM 8-eye boot, characterized by its height and had-wearing, utilitarian aesthetic. Through the lens of atmos, the boot recently received an anime-inspired look, which ran with the utility details of the boot and pushed their boundaries.

Given the popularity of the collaboration, it was only natural that an expansion of color options would follow, and the new Fall/Winter 2-21 Tarian collection does just that. On offer is a four-piece collection of Tariks, with two nylon and two leather options dressed in black, gunmetal, and brown.
