Editor's Notes: Samuel Ross' foot is firmly on the gas this year. Over the past few months, A-COLD-WALL* has remained at the forefront of the news, launching collaborations alongside RETROSUPERFUTURE and Mackintosh.

His latest efforts under the ACW imprint see him once again team up with Dr. Martens for an industrial take on the brand's iconic footwear silhouettes. A marriage of both brand's roots in British working-class heritage, the collaboration has so far delivered reinterpretations as opposed to reinventions.

The first outing between the pair took what is arguably Doc's most famous shoe – the 1460 leather ankle boot – and given it a brutalist edge, complete with sharp lines, paneling, and a full-length tongue zip. Everything that has made the boots so desirable for several generations was retained and refined for a familiar yet boldly original aesthetic.

For the second collaboration, Ross maintains and further refines this design language, applying it to the low-top silhouettes of DM's 1461. Much like its ankle-length counterpart, the 1461 features silver zip hardware at the tongue, enclosed by straight-edged panels at either side and extending along the shoe's sidewall. Finished in "Graphite," the shoe takes on a dulled-metal finish – a complimentary pick for the palette applied to the A-COLD-WALL* x Mackintosh apparel line.

Samuel Ross' exploration of British heritage through ACW collaborations is an exciting undertaking, and begs the question, what comes next?
