Eminem's new album Revival has officially debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart, accounting for the rapper's eighth consecutive number one debut. Em is in turn the first act in history to achieve the feat.
As Billboard points out, the Billboard 200 chart "ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA)."
Beginning in 1999 with The Slim Shady LP, Eminem's previous seven albums have gone on to debut at number one, including The Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show, Encore, Curtain Call: The Hits, Relapse, Recovery, and The Marshall Mathers LP.
Again, Em accounts for the first artist to obtain eight consecutive number one debuts, while three acts (JAY-Z, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones) have had eight number one debuts altogether.
