G-Eazy is the latest celebrity to throw his name in the ring to play Elvis Presley in the Baz Luhrmann led biopic. Tom Hanks has already been cast to play Presley’s manager, Parker.

On July 1, Deadline reported that Harry Styles, Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars and Baby Driver); Miles Teller, (Top Gun: Maverick, and Whiplash), and Austin Butler (The Dead Don’t Die) were all being tested for the roleAaron Taylor-Johnson (Kickass, Avengers: Age of Ultron) has since been implicated on the shortlist.

G-Eazy is an unabashed fan of the legendary Rock and Roll singer and has been talking with Warner Bros. about his interest in playing Elvis. According to Complex, the Oakland rapper has also been in talks with Luhrmann. The two reportedly spent time together in New York last month, where G-Eazy is supposed to have signaled his interest personally.

As yet, the film has not been given a release date. The script was written by Luhrmann and Craig Pearce, and follows the relationship between the young Presley and his manager in the early years of his career.
