The Timberland 6" Work Boot, also known as Style #10061 to the brand’s employees or by their street moniker “Timbs," has been in existence since 1973. In the early '90s, the boot started to transcend its original blue collar, rural roots and identity to become a street style staple. This was largely due to garb worn by those in the East Coast hip-hop scene of the early '90s, who were keen to reflect the communities they came from, represented, had affinity to, or who were just the subject of their rhymes and reasons.

It's now 2015, and through all that, the Timberland boot was there. Ironically, this means it's also spent more years in the realm of streetwear than the 17-odd years it spent comparatively as just an item beloved of America's rural, blue collar citizenry. How times change... But Timberland remained true to their original designs, which has undoubtedly helped the boot become an icon.

And so, capturing this spirit, photographer Ian K Bird works the Timberland 6" boot with fellow sturdy, winter-ready pieces from a host of other labels including Blood Brother, Copenhagen's Soulland and Cottweiler. Check our exclusive looks, above.
