HBO has landed J.J. Abrams’ new mysterious TV series dubbed Demimonde, after a bidding war with Apple, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The project is suggested to be an epic and intimate sci-fi fantasy drama, and according to sources, the series is about a family -- consisting of a mother who works as a scientist, her husband and their young daughter -- who all get into a terrible car crash. After the mother goes into a coma, her daughter looks through her mother's experiments in the basement, and gets transported to another world amidst a battle against a monstrous, oppressive force.

While an episode count for Demimonde has not yet been determined, this upcoming drama hails from Warner Bros. TV and Abrams’ studio-based Bad Robot Productions, and will be co-produced by HBO.
