Initially making their debut in 2016's Suicide Squad -- Jared Leto and Margot Robbie are set to reprise their roles as the iconic DC Comics villains Joker and Harley Quinn in an "insane and twisted love story" from Crazy, Stupid, Love directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Sources suggest that the plan is for this feature to release after the studio makes a sequel to Suicide Squad, where Mel Gibson is currently in talks to direct.
Additionally, the project falls within Warners' main line of movies based on their DC properties, such as Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, among other characters who collectively form the Justice League.
Warner Bros. is also starting to develop a line of DC-related films that will fall outside the established cinematic universe which sees actors and storylines linked across multiple movies -- essentially similar to what Marvel Studios has already achieved.
In other DC-related news, Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
