Brand: Kapital

Season: Fall/Winter 2021

Key Pieces: Kapital classics are reworked en masse, including washed chore coats, fleece outerwear, and heavily patched jeans. However, the spotlight is stolen by a follow-up Byborre collaboration — this time encompassing pouches alongside knit vests — and souvenir-inspired outerwear that transforms into plush pillows.

Editor’s Notes: It's Kapital kountry, we just live in it. The Japanese brand has taken the world by storm over the past few years, its distressed denim items and quirky graphics transitioning easily from workwear aesthetics to streetwear scenes. Fall/Winter 2021 has all the hits and more, demonstrating the Japanese brand's zest to constantly create countless quirky clothes. The collection's lookbook has nearly 400 shots of the goods and doesn't even include the entire range. It does display the Kapital's new need-to-know items almost all deeply engrained with cozy-core ethos.

It's impossible to easily sum up free-flowing Kapital collections with pithy descriptions, but at least it helps make method of madness, though there's really no reason for one of the models to don a fake beard. Still, the faux face fur does mirror the myriad fleece jackets dropping this season, a cushy complement to various quilted outerwear embroidered with sukajan, souvenir jacket, imagery. The latter garments can even be transformed into pillows — watch the below "KapTok" video to see one of them in action.

There aren't really any standout pieces because nearly everything Kapital makes is a splashy head-turner. How can you choose between the shapeshifting layers, retro suits, fair isle knitwear, bandana jackets, tie-dyed sweats, or comically wide flared jeans? Luckily, there's no need to choose — Kapital has it all, and more.
