What We’re Saying: Kiko Kostadinov's partnership with ASICS is said to have ended, yet we continue to receive new designs helmed by the Bulgarian designer and his creative team. The latest pair to bear Kostadinov's name is a collaborative effort with Kyle Ng and Brain Dead featuring the GEL-FRATELLI.

Both collaborative partners took to Instagram this week to tease the project with an intriguing graphic depicting a half-man, half-alien figure (see above). When you scan down to the shoes, you immediately see why this imagery was chosen, as the pair boasts a bold, mismatched look. More recently, official product images have been shared (see below), giving us a detailed look at the mash-up creation.

The GEL-FRATELLI is a new silhouette that combines the upper of the ASICS LAZERBEAM with the sole of the GEL-NIMBUS 23. The teams at Kiko Kostadinov and Brain Dead worked on one shoe each exclusively by themselves, as Kiko tackled the right and Brain Dead the left. The halves then come together to showcase a playful and joyful dialogue between the respective brands.

"The GEL-FRATELLI features two distinct siblings that, when paired together, form one singular voice. Left side. Right side. Right brain. Left brain. Sound mind. Sound body. The differences between all sides are bound together by the close relationship, and mutual respect, between all three brands," an official press release reads.

Limited to just 120 pairs, the Kiko Kostadinov x Brain Dead x ASICS GEL-FRATELLI becomes available on Sunday, August 15. To celebrate the occasion, Brain Dead is hosting a gathering with live music and DJs at Los Angeles' Homage Brewery on August 14. See below for details.
