It was way back in October 2016 when Sony Pictures first teased us with a trailer for its upcoming sci-fi epic, Life. This Superbowl weekend, the hype train resumed again as two new previews, including a (very brief) action shot of the aliens, were unveiled.
Life tells the story of a six-member crew on board the International Space Station who make the mankind-altering discovery of life on Mars. Sadly, it turns out our new neighbor isn't exactly the cuddly and friendly type, instead assuming the form of a strange Petri-dish amoeba. From there, things go from bad to worse as the crew try to take the evolving being out before it can inflict damage upon the earth. As ever, the moral of the story is a simple but important one: never mess with space martians.
Directed by Daniel Espinosa, the movie stars Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal. Additional supporting roles come from Rebecca Ferguson, Olga Dihovichnaya, Ariyon Bakare and Hiroyuki Sanada.
