It's no secret that rappers Lil Pump and Smokepurrp have a strong love for the prescription drug Xanax. However, it seems like the pair are turning over a new leaf after announcing they're both quitting the pills in 2018.

On New Years Day, Lil Pump made a surprise announcement via Instagram that Xanax will not be a part of his life in the year ahead. The rapper wrote in the caption: "2018 we going even more crazy love yall (btw I don’t take xanz no more fuck Xanax 2018)."

Then, in what appears to be a follow-up announcement, fellow rapper and friend Smokepurpp also revealed on Twitter he too was leaving the drug behind. This time, Travis Scott came to his support, stating the tweet made him "happy."

The news of their sudden lifestyle change comes not long after the passing of Lil Peep, who died from a reported Xanax and Fentanyl overdose in November 2017.

While the use of the drug has made a serious impact on the rap world, Lil Pump and Smokepurpp's sudden revelations might ignite a decline in the recreational use of the drug.

In other music-related news the rapper, Rich Chigga changes his name to Brian and releases new single "See Me"
