Netflix has been shaking up the film industry with its original movies, and most notably with Bright starring Will Smith, which garnered over 11 million views during its first three days, and notably the stream service's biggest budget original movie to date.
Now, according to Deadline, Netflix plans to top that number with another original film titled, Six Underground.
While reports claim that Michael Bay has been locked in to direct, renowned for his signature visual aesthetic of explosive action, details of the plot have been revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, saying Six Underground encompasses six billionaires who fake their own deaths and form an elite team to take down bad guys.
In addition, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has already been cast as one of the main characters, and it was written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, the screenwriting duo behind both Deadpool films. Sources also claim Netflix has committed around $150 million to the project, easily making it their biggest film production yet.
Six Underground is slated to begin filming this summer with an expected 2019 release. For the full story, head on over to Deadline.
Also, Idris Elba has been tapped to direct and star in Netflix’s ‘Hunchback of Notre Dame.’
