Syfy has released the first official trailer for its upcoming psychological thriller, Nightflyers. The 10-episode series is based on the 1980 novella by Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin of the same name.
In line with the original text, the forthcoming adaptation is set in the year 2093 and follows a crew aboard the Nightflyer spaceship. As they search for another mythical alien ship, issues arise with the Nightflyer's computer which leads to cases of mysterious deaths.
"Nightflyer is a haunted house story of a starship," Martin, who appears in the trailer, notes.
Due to his contractual commitments with HBO's Game of Thrones, Martin is not expected to be involved directly with Nightflyers but will receive an executive producer credit.
