Editor’s Notes: Nike is bringing back the Air Max Box, a sneaker we first saw in 2019. Designed especially for cardio and boxing workouts, the sneaker arrives sporting an exaggerated ankle collar that is controversial, to say the least. Still, the Swoosh has decided to re-introduce the Air Max Box’s funky design in 2020.

This year’s drop arrives in a gray, magenta, and orange colorway, and features details borrowed from the Jordan Mars 720 and Air Max 270, from the wavy midsole to the bubble-like sole.

This isn't the first time Nike has dropped a questionable Air Max iteration. Around this time last year, the Swoosh dropped the Air Max FF7720, the lovechild of the Air Max 720 and a sandal.

Nike's Air Max Box will be dropping exclusively in women's sizes on March 19.
