Nike’s Moody Baller Takes Chevy From the Garage to the Hardwood
Devin Booker’s passion for vintage American muscle is as famous as his mid-range jumper. From his pristine 1959 Chevy Impala Pretty Penny to a sky-blue K5 Blazer, Booker’s legendary garage has made an official partnership with General Motors an absolute inevitability. Moving into his second signature chapter, the Swoosh and Detroit join forces for the Chevrolet x Nike Book 2 Metallic Red Bronze.
We see a lot of car collabs in streetwear. A lot. But when one feels truly authentic, it stands out. While many treat auto collaborations like a superficial badge-engineering exercise, the Nike design team has mined classic Chevy bodywork, polished chrome, and custom metallic paint jobs to craft a design that actually blends two brands’ DNA.
Dressed in a Metallic Red Bronze finish, the Chevrolet x Nike Book 2 channels the deep copper and bronze lacquers popular on custom '50s and '60s Chevrolets.
The upper features a smooth, liquid-metallic bronze finish that mimics freshly buffed enamel. Chrome-inspired Swooshes sweep across the side panels like classic fender trim, while subtle Chevrolet bowtie emblem detailing and custom Booker badging adorn the tongue and heel.
This isn’t all for show, though. The Book 2 retains its low-profile, responsive court tooling engineered for elite footwork. A full-length Cushlon 3.0 foam midsole houses a snappy Zoom Air unit in the heel.
This is a blueprint for collaboration. While we see disparate worlds enmeshing more frequently than ever nowadays, very few actually feel planned-out. This partnership is one we wouldn’t have immediately guessed, but when you see it, it just makes sense, visually and conceptually.
