As a part of Virgil Abloh's forthcoming “FIGURES OF SPEECH” exhibition, you can see “TRANSPARENT” CDJ-2000NXS2 and “TRANSPARENT” DJM-900NXS2, which were first previewed at his Coachella set last month. The multiplayer and digital mixer were created specifically for Abloh by Pioneer DJ in collaboration with the “Pioneer DJ c/o Virgil Abloh™” project.
In a press release, Abloh described the transparent equipment as “a means to give a new look and feel to the industry standard of the CDJ and DJM." He adds, "I aimed to design a see-thru and non-labeled rendition of the classic models to inspire a different sound while DJing.”
The pieces will be displayed at the designer’s first exhibition in Chicago alongside “signature clothing collections, video documentation of iconic fashion shows, distinctive furniture and graphic design work, and collaborative projects with artists such as Jenny Holzer, Arthur Jafa, and John Baldessari.”
"FIGURES OF SPEECH" opens at The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago on June 10 and runs until September 22. Find out how to cop advance tickets for the exhibition here.
