The world is still shaken from the bombshell that emerged last month on BuzzFeed News detailing R. Kelly's shady dealings in a possible sex cult. Just over a week ago, a county commissioner in Georgia called for an official investigation, but now comes the latest development in the ongoing saga. BuzzFeed News has published a new report with another claimant coming forward, alleging that Kelly took advantage of her while she was underage.
The victim in question is Jerhonda Pace, a woman who first met Kelly at the age of 15 during his 2008 trial wherein the singer was accused of creating child pornography. A relationship developed, one that aligns with the other accusations levelled at Kelly last month; namely, that he exercises both mental and physical abuse upon the women living on his private properties in several states.
What makes Pace's account unique among the accusations collected thus far is that she is the first to confirm that her relationship with Kelly took place while she was under the age of consent, at times forcibly so. She had also signed a nondisclosure agreement after reaching a settlement in 2010, but she has knowingly come forward in full realization of the legal ramifications. "If I can speak out and I can help them get out of that situation, that’s what I will do," she told BuzzFeed.
As of press time, no statements have been issued from R. Kelly's camp other than the following message obtained by Pitchfork: "The allegations against Mr. Kelly are false, and are being made by individuals known to be dishonest. It is clear these continuing stories are the result of the effort of those with personal agendas who are working in concert to interfere with and damage his career. Mr. Kelly again denies any and all wrong doing and is taking appropriate legal action to protect himself from ongoing defamation.”
This story will be updated with any new developments.
