Supreme shared a short teaser video to Instagram today featuring an interview with director John Woo and snippets from his cult movie, The Killer. The teaser serves as the announcement for the skate brand’s John Woo-themed capsule, which drops on October 25.
The video, which you can check out above, shows Woo (wearing a Supreme box logo T-shirt no less) talking about how he filmed The Killer, which achieved cult status after its 1989 release. Woo has said in the past that The Killer is a tribute to directors Jean-Pierre Melville and Martin Scorsese.
Wu-Tang member RZA is also included in the Instagram post, perhaps as a nod to his affinity for Hong Kong action films and martial arts flicks, as well as his role in producing the early solo efforts of Wu-Tang Clan. Dialogue from The Killer was famously used as a sample on Raekwon’s “Incarcerated Scarfaces.”
Supreme’s The Killer collection features imagery from the movie, featured on an M-65 jacket, hoodies, two T-shirts, and a skateboard. You can look forward to the capsule launching in-store in NY, Brooklyn, LA, London, Paris, and online October 25. Availability in Japan begins October 27.
