With Oscar season officially upon us, it seems only apropos that the chatter is beginning with familiar award-contending names like "Spielberg," "Hanks," and "Streep." However, the trailer for The Post reveals that the three Hollywood heavyweights have actually joined forces - forming a trio with a combined eight Academy Award wins between them.

Based on a true story, The Post follows the relationship between The Washington Post’s Katharine Graham (Streep), the first female publisher of a major American newspaper, and editor Ben Bradlee (Hanks), as they contend with a competing newspaper who has received classified information, "The Pentagon Papers," which threatens the exploits of four U.S. Presidents.

Torn between the legality and repercussions that comes with reporting the truth, Hanks' character sums it up best: "We could all go to prison. What will happen if we don’t publish? We will lose. The country will lose.”

The Post co-stars Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Tracy Letts, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson, Jesse Plemons, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bradley Whitford, and Zach Woods.

It opens December 22 in select theaters.
