Highsnobiety

It's the weekend, baby!

This week has been a whirlwind, to say the least.

Kanye West has been up to his usual antics, posting plenty of questionable things to Instagram, and even bullying Pete "Skete" Davidson off the platform, as well as deciding to only launch DONDA 2 through his $200 Stem Player.

Ye put together a concert in Miami to debut the album, and the expensive Stem Player has fans divided. Some love it, some are just waiting for the leak. Oh, and he's dating a Kim Kardashian clone.

After months of anticipation, Ye's YEEZY Gap Engineered by Balenciaga collection also dropped, receiving praises from his fans. Finally, more clothes from Kanye! But please, cool it with the Yeezy's, we're feeling fatigued.

Elsewhere, Milan Fashion Week kicked off and featured plenty of great collections, including Glenn Martens making a case for belts as skirts, adidas x Gucci debuting their collaboration with Rihanna and ASAP Rocky sat front row, and a sneaker collaboration from MM6 and Salomon.

Of course, this week also saw Russia launch a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, starting the first war in Europe since World War Two. As the violent attacks are still going on, with world leaders condemning Vladimir Putin for his decision, there is little information as to what will happen next. Highsnobiety stand with our colleagues, friends, family, and all those impacted by the tragedy.

It feels weird to write about other things, especially fashion and pop culture, at a time like this.

Below you'll find this week's biggest news that you might have missed.

War Has Broken Out in Europe

"In the early hours of February 24, weeks of push-pull aggression on Ukraine's borders culminated in Russian President Vladmir Putin launching a full-scale invasion of the neighboring nation. Citizens immediately began fleeing Kyiv, Ukraine's capital, hunkering down as explosions rocked the city. As a platform and as the people who work at Highsnobiety, we are staunchly anti-oppression and anti-violence."

Here’s How to Cop Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga

"After months of anticipation, we're finally set to see a bigger release from Kanye West's YEEZY GAP collaboration."

Kim Kardashian, Engineered by Prada

"Kim Kardashian is hanging up her Balenciaga gimp suit in favor of something a little more Italian: Prada."

A Shroud Envelopes MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon

"It fits into the label's legacy: MM6 is prone to, dare I say, kickass collaborations."

‘Fit Battle: Batman vs. Catwoman

"Robert Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz have embarked on The Batman press tour, proving in the process that god loves all his children, but put some extra-special care into the man destined to play Edward Cullen and the woman borne of Lisa Bonet."

In Milan, Glenn Martens Lit Diesel on Fire

"It was an affair saturated with pop, sex, and lots of glitter — really, anything one can hope for when it comes to a runway show. Models paraded down a red carpet, weaving their way between gargantuan, blow-up sculptures of seductively posed, denim-clad women."

The Internet Reacts to Donda 2

"Yesterday was 22.02.22 – a big day for manifestation, or a big day for Kanye West fans depending on which group you belong to – and to everyone's surprise, Ye actually performed DONDA 2 in Miami (the album still didn't release, though)."

Miu Miu’s SS22 Skirt Set Is the Main Character

"Think back to a time you were blissfully unaware of Miu Miu's Spring/Summer 2022 collection, the range that introduced us to the label's vibe-shifting, abdomen-baring mini skirt set. Can't remember? Me neither."

In the Wild World of NFTs, You Need an Invisible Friend

"As the vast world of NFTs continues to expand, and plenty of projects are minting every week, it is sometimes hard to separate the good from the bad. That hasn't been the case with Invisible Friends."
