When it launched in 2002, the original adidas Manchester was in many ways an acknowledgement of the love affair between youths in the North West of England and the adidas ‘City Series’ that began in the 1980s and continues to this day. The original ‘City Series’ didn’t actually contain a shoe named after the city of Manchester so creating a low profile shoe that used Manchester in its naming served to highlight that city’s role in the history of this iconic series of shoes.
True to size.
The shoe’s stripes and heel moustache are comprised of reflective materials and feature parallel edged stripes — a unique detail of a number of late 1980s Austrian made ‘city series’ footwear releases. Finally, rounding out the look is the addition of debossed Mod Trefoil logos on both tongues as well as the heel moustache of the left shoe.
