Last week Alan Palomo, better known by his stage name, Neon Indian, dropped a new project titled VEGA INTL. Night School. Riding the buzz, Palomo also released the visuals for “Slumlord,” one of the album’s featured songs. The video, titled “Slumdog Rising,” clocks in at just over eight minutes and features a heady mix of fluorescent lighting, gratuitous bloodshed, and enough horror and sci-fi tropes to last a lifetime. Centering around an evening of revelry, what begins as an innocent night on the town quickly degenerates into a cesspit of violence and bizarre interactions that would fit right into the worlds of Kubrick or Tarantino.

The catalyst for it all? A helmet-wearing potential anti-hero named Slumlord. We’re not sure if it’s the Night at the Roxbury-esque outfits, the charmingly retro lighting, the flat-out odd storyline, or the well-executed cheese, but this video is a winner.

Press play to enjoy.
