In the past, adidas has worked with Parley for the Oceans to create midsole and sneaker upper concepts using recycled materials.

Now adidas and Parley are actually producing a limited run of their collaborative running shoe, which is the very first performance product created using Parley ocean plastic. The shoe’s upper is crafted from recycled materials, collected in coastal areas in the Maldives.

Starting World Oceans Day on June 8, sneakerheads can enter to win one of 50 available pairs through an Instagram contest. Entrants must create a video that shows how they pledge to avoid the use of plastic, in support of Parley’s Ocean Plastic Program. The competition closes on July 31, 2016.

Also, stay posted during the second half of 2016, when adidas and Parley will unveil their first commercial footwear product drop.
