adidas Consortium EQT - a range which first launched in 1991 - might have received less attention of late thanks to show-stealers like the NMD, but the innovative new EQT ADV SUPPORT 910 is about to change that. To celebrate the new silhouette, we teamed up with adidas and three OGs of the sneaker community to delve into the EQT's 25-year history.
The new model draws on the original EQT design philosophy and DNA – however, the EQT ADV SUPPORT 910 begins a new chapter suited to contemporary requirements. The limited edition EQT utilizes technologies such as Kevlar threaded seams and coated side panels, Dyneema upper and laces, and features the trefoil logo for the first time. It also has contrasting matte black and white outsole with powder finished stripes, plus an EQT ADV 91-16 logo on the tongue and insole that commemorates 1991, the inaugural year, placing the release in sneaker history.
Could the update also be an example of future innovation and design from adidas? Mike Packer, founder of New Jersey's Packer Shoes, thinks so: “It’s a perfect iteration of what’s going to come next,” he told us. He's one of three sneakerheads we visited in New Jersey, Tokyo and Berlin, to get their take – past and present – on the EQT's legacy for our video, which you can watch above.
The EQT ADV SUPPORT 910 release is limited to 910 pairs and will drop via nine global Consortium partners in sneaker capitals around the world on June 25, 2016.
More info soon. In the meantime, check out adidas' perfect summer sneaker, the “Triple White” EQT colorway.
