For around a decade, comedy legend Jerry Seinfeld has stood proudly on the top of the proverbial mountain as the highest-paid comedian in the world, according to Forbes‘ annual list. While Seinfeld managed to bring in $43.5 million between June 2015 and June 2016, that wasn’t enough for the first place spot in this year’s ranking as Kevin Hart topped the list with $87.5 million.
According to Forbes, the tremendous feat was accomplished by Hart’s mindset of “touring like a rockstar,” playing over 100 shows during the 1-year period and averaging over $1 million per event.
“He is a comedian, of course, but he is drawing crowds that you would typically only see for musician,” says Gary Bongiovanni, editor of Pollstar. “Only a few comedians [are] capable of playing sports arenas the way that Kevin Hart does.”
In addition to his tour earnings, Hart also starred in films such as Central Intelligence and Secret Life of Pets and also appeared in commercials for Hyundai, Foot Locker and H&M. Check out the full list below for the top earners of 2016 in the comedy industry.
