Where the runway meets the street

Next up on the Paris Fashion Week agenda is Jonny Johansson’s lauded Swedish imprint, Acne Studios. Noted for its whimsical design quirks and discernibly Scandi minimalism, the brand’s SS17 collection looked beyond its frigid Northern borders, opting instead for sartorial motifs commonly affiliated with the Middle East.

Dizzying, Arabian-style patterns (much like those byzantine rugs lying around in your grandmother’s house) were emblazoned on a series of sweater dresses, kaftans and jumpsuits. Oversized robe coats and ponchos featured swirling paisley prints and tassel trimming. The patchwork details were a bit excessive, but that scarf-tied two-piece number with the shredded seams is an absolute banger.
