Every season, the British Fashion Council, in an effort to underpin London’s thriving community of emerging talent, culls together a group of the city’s most promising designers of tomorrow, offering them financial support and the opportunity to showcase their work during London Fashion Week’s menswear or womenswear presentations.

Dubbed NEWGEN, the committee aims to mentor its inductees by providing them with the tools needed to successfully operate a lucrative business while simultaneously allowing their craft to mature and flourish.

With an alumni roster that includes designers such as Craig Green, Alex Mullins, Ashley Williams and Faustine Steinmetz, as well as a current pool that features the likes of Cottweiler, Kiko Kostadinov, Liam Hodges, Wales Bonner and Marta Jakubowski (just to name a few), NEWGEN has become one of the most celebrated and influential initiatives for burgeoning creatives and serves as a strong testament to London’s ever innovative design landscape.

During a recent excursion to the English capital for LFWM’s SS18 iteration, we selected three NEWGEN newcomers to feature in an exclusive in-house editorial shot in the city’s Hackney Wick district. A-COLD-WALL*

A longtime Highsnob favorite – and 2016 “Editor’s Pick” for our Crowns Awards’ Best Breakthrough Brand category – 25-year-old Samuel Ross’s A-COLD-WALL* imprint has skyrocketed in popularity since it was first launched in 2015. Merging his background in graphic design and illustration with London street culture and the zeitgeist of Britain’s working class, Ross’s seasoned tailoring skills and penchant for conceptual graphics and idiosyncratic fabrics doesn’t come from a lack of experience – the designer held a three-year creative assistant role alongside OFF-WHITE’s Virgil Abloh.

With a sizable celebrity clientele, international stockists and a Nike collaboration under its belt, A-COLD-WALL* is destined to become the next big name in high-end streetwear.

Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY

A leading figure in London’s queer nightlife scene, thanks to the success of his cult club night “Loverboy,” Scottish-born designer and illustrator Charles Jeffrey seeks to revive the gaudy extravagance and boisterous energy of ’90s-era club kids with his namesake label.

Marked by sheeny fabrics, avant-garde silhouettes and zany graphics, Jeffrey, who graduated with an MA in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins in 2015, and his ragtag troupe of artists bear a striking echo to the New Romantic subcultural tribes of London’s yesteryear.

Nicholas Daley

Upon graduating Central Saint Martins in 2013, Nicholas Daley has made it a point to embrace his multicultural heritage by infusing strong narratives that blend traditional British menswear with contemporary designs that spotlight the UK’s diverse ethnic makeup. Daley’s employment of traditional production methods and fine fabrics have earned him significant praise within the world of men’s fashion, winning over influential retailers such as International Gallery Beam and Dover Street Market London.
