Editor’s Notes: adidas has finally given its long-awaited Futurecraft 4D sneaker an official release date. On January 18, the innovative silhouette will launch in the New York City area through Consortium retailers such as KITH, Packer and SNS.
Recognized as the “world’s first high performance footwear featuring midsoles crafted with light and oxygen,” the Futurecraft’s single-component midsole is designed to provide controlled energy return.
The shoe is then highlighted by engineered zones that adhere to various needs of running, including propulsion, cushioning, stability and comfort. The aforementioned midsole is comprised of over 20,000 struts that can be individually tuned to enhance control on energy return necessary for a specific function.
Primeknit construction takes over the upper of the Futurecraft 4D, while the engineered ventilation zones also make the sneaker noticeably breathable.
This is adidas’s most high-tech release to date, first appearing in April 2017 as a proof of concept in very limited numbers and created using the brand’s extensive library of athlete running data.
Again, you’ll have your first shot at adidas’s all-new Futurecraft 4D on January 18, with Sneakersnstuff announcing an online raffle for an in-store pick up at its New York City location.
Details on the releases at the other NYC consortium retailers to follow.
In other Three Stripes news, the Dame 4 is releasing in BAPE colorways.
