Editor’s Notes: Last week, adidas officially unveiled the all-new Ultraboost 20. The launch colorways are inspired by adidas’ multi-year partnership with CASIS and the International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory. adidas points out that every design element of the Ultraboost 20 serves a specific purpose, similar to the construction of a space shuttle.

"The revolutionary Ultraboost range has consistently pushed the boundaries of running shoe design since first launching, with each new release going one step further than its predecessors. In the adidas Ultraboost 20, we have lift-off again," says Sam Handy, Vice President Design, adidas Running. "The new silhouette has been carefully crafted to provide a high level of energy return for the wearer, combining our iconic Boost midsole with a Primeknit upper featuring Tailored Fiber Placement. This means the shoe responds to every step by propelling the runner forward. The design aesthetic of the new adidas Ultraboost 20 takes inspiration from our partnership with the ISS U.S. National Lab and, with more to come from the partnership, we plan on taking Boost to even greater heights."

The high-performance Primeknit upper of the Ultraboost 20, featuring Tailored Fiber Placement (TFP) technology, is precisely stitched and constructed. The running sneaker also incorporates a Boost midsole for unmatched energy return, while a 3D Heel Frame cradles the heel and locks it in place, ultimately providing both adaptability and support.

adidas announced its collaboration with the ISS U.S. National Lab earlier this month. In addition to integrating aerospace grade technology with the Ultraboost 20, adidas is sending Boost technology on a mission up to the ISS. There, scientists will study the Boost molding process to further unlock the potential of Boost.

You can look forward to the all-new Ultraboost 20 launching globally December 7.
