What We’re Saying: In celebration of the adidas Originals Superstar’s 50th anniversary, longtime collaborator BAPE has given its own spin to a silhouette the Japanese streetwear staple has worked on several times in the past. This year’s version arrives in two colorways — classic black and white and colorful ABC camo — and an asymmetric, mismatched scheme.

The left side of each shoe features adidas’ iconic Three Stripes branding, while the left side features BAPE’s famous shooting star logo. The right shoe features BAPE branding on the tongue tag and the heel, while the left shoe features adidas Originals branding.

BAPE and adidas have teamed up on the Superstar in the past. The duo’s first-ever official collaboration was actually a Superstar in 2003. Two more followed in 2011 and 2015, respectively. Additionally, BAPE — who is probably best known for its bootleg versions of popular sneaker models — has its own version of the Superstar called the “Skull-Sta.”

This year’s BAPE x adidas Originals Superstar drops on February 27 via BAPE (both in-store and online). No word yet on whether the sneaker will see a wider release, though it’s highly likely. Stay tuned for updates.
