This stunning new suite allows safari guests to sleep in luxury above the trees in Kenya, but they might have to watch for eagles swooping in on them — because it resembles a giant bird’s nest.
The Nay Palad at Segera resort is located in one of Kenya’s most popular safari locations — Laikipia — and the nearby river means the area is teeming with exotic wildlife. With spectacular panoramic views across the region, the suite is billed as “a new concept of nesting like a bird – above the ground, with literally a 360-degree view of the wilderness.”
It was built and designed using raw materials like tree branches and farmed wood, but the construction comes with all the luxury features you’d expect in a regular hotel — such as a fully-equipped bathroom with solar-heated water and a flushing toilet.
After enjoying a day on safari, guests arrive at the bird nest just before sunset to see the structure illuminated with lanterns. The experience then includes champagne and a picnic-style dinner on the top deck after sundown, before visitors are left to either gaze at the african sky or move indoors to luxurious linens and hot water bottles. Breakfast is served the following morning overlooking the elephants and other wildlife below.
Check out the pictures above, then head over to the hotel’s website to book a stay. Prices for a night’s stay start at $1,150 USD.
In other news, thong jeans now exist.
