After dropping sandals for the hiking bros, Birkenstock is back with a collection of summery shoes...with a twist. Literally. the latest is no chunked-up clog or hairy Arizona wonder, but it certainly proves that a little braiding goes a long way (or I think that's how the old saying goes).

After a couple of previews, Birkenstock has finally unleashed its "Braided" collection, an offering of, well, braided Boston clogs and Oita sandals. Things don't get too crazy — or twisted, I should say — with Birkenstock's newest collection. The brand simply bestows its beloved shoes with new, subtle hand-knitted straps, ditching the previous braid-free ones.

And for those who cherish the classic Birk energy, fear not. The brand's renowned contoured cork footbed and velvety suede upper remains, now adorned in stunning shades of elemental blue, mink, or taupe.

Birkenstock's Braided collection — now available on Birkenstock's website, by the way — brings a new woven touch to its most classic shoes. The intertwined detailing makes for a neat quiet flex, inviting even the most OG Birkenstock heads to embrace a little — dare I say it again — twist in their slip-on collections.

Birkenstock's latest drop picks up where the label left off with Kith in 2023 when Ronnie Fieg's streetwear brand delivered deliciously woven London clogs in several flavors. The long-awaited collaboration flew off shelves when it finally landed. No surprises there.

Woven footwear was everywhere in 2023, honestly. The concept made a huge splash in the shoe industry, advanced by releases like Jacquemus' Nike AF1s and Union's braided Jordans

It's now 2024, but Birkenstock declares it another year of twisted shoes.
