The only COMME des GARÇONS item that's penetrated the cultural zeitgeist as heavily as the CdG Play Converse with those funny hearts on 'em is the CdG coaches jacket, which is pretty surprising given how young it is.

I mean, COMME des GARÇONS only launched the affordable, graphic-conscious CDG sub-label a couple years ago and yet it can be found anywhere that kids seeking semi-affordable statement pieces go. That's quite an achievement.

The CDG coaches jacket is the imprint's crown jewel, a more approachable iteration of the COMME des GARÇONS staff coat that's been reiterated throughout the years.

Typically offered with layered CDG branding in homage to the sub-label's original name (it was unveiled as the exhaustive CDG CDG CDG), the CDG coaches jacket has worn a few variations, including circle logos, Stüssy co-branding, and even a Pikachu or two.

All these different iterations were important because the CDG jacket was popular enough to sell out almost as fast as it arrived in-store and online each season. I mean, it restocks often enough, but the kids can't get enough.

Now, for 2023, the signature CDG jacket is returning in slightly updated form.

Currently available at Dover Street Market and select COMME des GARÇONS stores and CDG's website on April 14, the refreshed CDG jacket now sports a stylized print on its rear and a tiny "CDG" on the front. Woohoo!

Changes this subtle obviously aren't anything to get terribly excited about. It's the same sorta thing as those ever-popular CDG Vans sneakers and BAPE x CDG T-shirts, really, just a more wearable way to wear a CDG logo.

But there's something to be said about the CDG jacket getting popular enough to justify not only a dedicated restock but a design refresh that actually gives it a fresh look. When you've got a hit item, might as well give the people what they want.
