Don't waste your time trying to figure out Converse Japan's next move. The Japanese line is full of surprises, having delivered some of the most unexpected albeit impressive takes on Converse's footwear.

Its latest creation? A wildly elegant kung-fu slipper.

The brand takes Converse's signature slip-on model and adds in details inspired by classic kung-fu shoes, creating the, well, All-Star Kung Fu Slip-On.

Again, it's a pretty classy effort, offering up plush velvet uppers, an embroidered tiger head, and Chinese characters on the heel.

And Converse keeps its martial arts-style shoe in the loop of family traditions, giving it the Chuck Taylor's signature rubber sole unit and other recognizable stamps.

Like with the brand's ultra-chunky ballet sneakers and towering cowboy boots, there's always a reminder that, above all else, these shoes are All-Stars.

The All-Star Kung Fu Slip-on comes in a royal purple and black colorway. Both are currently scheduled to land on January 27 on Converse Japan's website for ¥12,100, or around $76.
