Ex Infinitas is the Melbourne-based brand making waves with its surfer-slash-streetwear vibe that blends distinctly antipodean references with contemporary silhouettes, choice materials and heaps of irony. At risk of sounding too obtuse, it’s like Australia’s answer to Vetements.

Ex Infinitas incorporates elements of bogan culture (the board shorts, wifebeaters and general bad taste found in designer Lukas Vincent’s hometown) into its extremely wearable collections. The visuals of surf/snow subcultures are sadly neglected when it comes to fashion, but in today’s climate of “so bad it’s good”, the inherent ugliness of these aesthetics may be finally realising its moment.

Ex Infinitas went from just a single collection to competing in the International Woolmark Prize in a hot minute, and it’s gaining rapid momentum as a strong brand to watch out for.

We’ve selected some of our favourite products from Ex Infinitas below, including some DIY punk-infused trainers, repurposed vintage t-shirts and a very reflective metallic coat that gives a whole new meaning to “silver surfer”.
