Editor's Notes: Eytys' new sneaker knows how to party.

The Aphex, a mid-top silhouette that takes cues from basketball shoes, is entirely maximalist.

In "Twilight," the sneaker features purple zebra paneling with hits of black mesh and smooth nubuck. A square toe nods to Eytys' signature chunky shape, a focal point of the brand's Spring/Summer 2022 collection. A spiky, cleat-like outsole wraps onto the heel and forefoot, recalling the Fugu and Kamasu, two older Eytys silhouettes.

A second colorway, "Mamba," swaps out zebra print for silver snakeskin (faux, of course). Bright white accents are flash-reflective, adding extra shine to the impossible-to-miss design.

Eytys, a Swedish brand, seems to renounce all notions of Scandi minimalism with the Aphex. Instead, the sneaker serves up a cornucopia of design elements that, somehow, all work together: animal print, metallics, texture, shape. It's a shoe that would look at home on the foot of, say, Joe Exotic.

On Instagram, Eytys described the shoe as a "vibrant upgrade of millennial mid-tops." Indeed, it brings a little bit of the '80s and a dash of the '90s into the present day, a far cry from the muted Mother sneakers that introduced the brand to the world a decade ago.
