adidas Originals has partnered with GORE-TEX and designer Conroy Nachtigall, formerly of Arc'teryx Veilance, for a very special three-way collaboration, which Highsnobiety had the pleasure of exclusively unveiling.
Together, these three parties created two GORE-TEX-treated pieces — a jacket and pants — as part of a project dubbed adidas Originals PT3. Both pieces were designed with the urban commuter in mind.
With nearly a quarter of the world's population living in a city of over 1 million inhabitants, adidas Originals believes our clothing needs to adapt to face new challenges. The jacket and pants are intended to be a first step in that direction, which is best exemplified in their transformable nature. The pants transform into a pair of shorts and back again with ease, while the jacket can be quickly turned into a vest if there is need to do so.
Speaking on the collection, Conroy Nachtigall says: “These items are about making each phase of the transformation as wearable as the other without any hierarchy. The endpoint as important as the start point. Focusing on keeping the full waterproof integrity of GORE-TEX but then letting the process reveal something new.”
The GORE-TEX PT3 ACMON jacket retails for 400 EUR, while the GORE-TEX INFINIUM ACMON pants retail for 150 EUR.
The ACMON jacket launched at key retailers around the globe with customized colored solutions in February (see a list of retailers below). As of March 1st, the ACMON GORE-TEX and GORE-TEX INFINIUM pieces will be available globally.
