What We’re Saying: Is it a sandal? Is it a sneaker? No, it’s the HOKA ONE ONE Hopara.

The beauty of the Hopara is that the upper is completely waterproof, in the sense that it doesn’t matter if it gets wet — like a sandal. The shoe’s midsole, however, is more sneaker-leaning, meaning the Hopara offers its wearer the best of both worlds. You could technically wear the HOKA Hopara as a sandal when it’s warm enough, or with socks when it cools down a little.

One look at the midsole and the traction on the outsole tells you everything you need to know about what this beast was designed for. Although the upper may be a bit airier than other sneaker uppers, you’re going to feel comfortable tackling any terrain with the Hopara.

While you’ll be able to satisfy your outdoor-adventure cravings with the Hopara, the design is also appealing for its anti-fashion nature. A few years ago, you’d be laughed out of any major fashion capital of the world wearing these. Nowadays, however, you’ll be the toast of whatever Fashion Week party you’ve finessed your way into.
