With the Lakers and his career in seemingly endless decline, Kobe Bryant appears to have reinvented himself as an actor specializing in big-budget commercials. He came up in the game with Turkish Airlines, and now stars in this Apple TV ad alongside Michael B. Jordan (no relation to that other Michael Jordan guy that played basketball, BTW).
Sitting in a trailer, Kobe preps Mike, an actor cast to play his younger self in a Bryant biopic, by showing him NBA archive footage on Apple TV. Unbeknownst to Kobe, MJB is actually set to play him through the entire arch of his life and career.
In an ageist diss, MJB then uses his voice (or magic) to pull up the 2008 movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and fast forward to a close-up of the titular character's face as a means of illustrating how old Kobe has gotten. How cruel.
This wizardry is made possible by Apple TV's Siri remote, which you can read about in detail.
